Recording from Apple Watch, widgets and Siri
You can record a scheduled entry without opening Vialog on your iPhone. Wherever you tap, the record is saved in one place, on your iPhone, the same way as from the app.
The Apple Watch app
Vialog for Apple Watch comes with the iPhone app. If it is not on your watch, open the Watch app on your iPhone and install Vialog from the list of available apps. Routines and schedules are set up on the iPhone; the watch shows today's scheduled entries and the next few coming up.
Tap an entry to Record it at the planned quantity, or Record as skipped. To record a different amount, a site or a note, use your iPhone. The record is the same one either way, and you can correct it there later.
"Waiting for iPhone"
The watch never says an entry is saved before your iPhone has saved it. After a tap the entry shows Waiting for iPhone until the phone replies. If the phone is out of reach, the tap is queued and delivered when they are back together, and it is recorded once, however it arrives. If the phone refuses the tap (because the entry was already recorded, or the schedule changed in the meantime), the watch shows Not saved with the reason.
The time recorded is the time of your tap, unless that is later than the moment your iPhone saves it.
Complications
The Today complication shows the day's scheduled entries as a ring, and when the next one is. It is available in the circular, rectangular, inline and corner styles. Tap it to open the watch app.
Widgets on iPhone
The Today widget comes in small and medium sizes for the Home Screen, and in the three Lock Screen sizes. It shows the day's entries and the next one, as the ring where there is room for it. Tapping it opens Vialog; widgets never write anything themselves.
The Record Injection control, for Control Centre, the Lock Screen or the Action button, opens Vialog on the recording screen for today's next entry, so you enter the amount, the site and a note yourself.
Siri and Shortcuts
Vialog's actions appear in the Shortcuts app and answer to Siri, for example:
- "Record an injection in Vialog" or "Record routine in Vialog". Siri records the planned quantity only after you confirm, with your iPhone unlocked. It names the routine and the quantity only if Show routine name and quantity is on; otherwise it names a routine only when it asks which of your routines you mean.
- "Skip today's entry in Vialog", also after a confirmation.
- "When is my next entry in Vialog".
- "Add a check-in in Vialog", which opens a check-in.
What these places show
The watch, complications and widgets read a small summary of the week that your iPhone writes, never your full records. With Settings › Show routine name and quantity off, that summary holds no routine names and no quantities, so a glance at your wrist or lock screen shows only times and states. It never holds an amount on hand or a count.
Vialog records the planned quantity from the schedule you entered. It never calculates or suggests an amount.
