Taking your injection records to an appointment
Your records leave Vialog only when you export them. There are three ways: a PDF report to read through with someone, CSV files for a spreadsheet, and a backup file that moves everything to another phone.
All three are in Settings › Export, backup and delete. The Journal's Prepare a report link opens the same screen.
Choosing what goes in
Pick the date range and tick what to include: injections, skipped entries, check-ins, body measurements (while they are shown in the app), lab results and the amount on hand. Your routines, their schedules and your site labels always come with whatever is ticked, so the records can be read on their own.
A PDF report for an appointment
The PDF report is a readable list of your records for the range, with charts if you want them. Before you make it you can:
- choose all routines or just one;
- choose which charts to include;
- choose which check-ins to include, so a private note stays out;
- write Questions or notes for your appointment, which appear in the report.
Tap Preview PDF to read it on the phone first, then share it however you like: AirDrop, Mail, Messages, Files or print. These choices are kept on your phone for the next appointment. The PDF report is part of Vialog Pro, a single purchase.
The report shows what you recorded, when, and how often. It does not interpret any of it: what it means is a conversation for the appointment.
CSV files for a spreadsheet
Export CSV files is free. It writes one file per kind of record, which Numbers, Excel or Google Sheets open directly. Each row keeps the amount exactly as you typed it, in its own unit, with an exact timestamp (with its time-zone offset, or in UTC), the moment it was entered, and a stable ID so the same record can be matched across exports.
Records kept in another app or a spreadsheet can come in the other way, through Import history from CSV. You match the columns yourself, every row is checked before anything is saved, and rows that are already there are skipped.
A backup to move to a new phone
Back up all records makes a single file holding everything, photos included, and lets you save it wherever you choose, such as Files or iCloud Drive. On the new phone, install Vialog and use Restore from a backup. A restore replaces everything on that phone with what is in the file, and nothing changes unless the whole file is valid.
Vialog can remind you in the app every 30 days to make one. It records the date of your last completed share, but it cannot see whether the file was kept, or whether your phone's own iCloud backup ran.
Vialog Pro is not in the backup: on a new phone, use Restore purchases in Settings › Vialog Pro.
Keep exported files safe
An exported file is readable by anyone who has it. Vialog cannot protect a file once it has left the app, so share it only with people you mean to, and delete copies you no longer need.
Vialog is a personal record. It does not interpret your records or recommend any change.
